John
D. Gorman, Ph.D.
Dr.
Gorman has more than 15 years experience in the area of digital
image analysis with applications in radar, optics and infrared
imaging. Most recently, he was Senior Scientist in the Sensor
Information Systems Group at Veridian Systems, where he provided
technical and program management expertise in the area of sensor
modeling and data exploitation. From 1999 to 2001, Dr. Gorman
was head of Bioinformatics in the Advanced Information Systems
Group at Veridian ERIM International. During this time, he co-developed
a novel approach for content-based indexing of imagery databases
via automatic extraction of analyst-driven imagery features. Prior
to that, 1996-1999, Dr. Gorman was a research manager at Veridian
ERIM International where he developed novel signal compression
and target recognition algorithms for radar imagery. From 1985
to 1996, Dr. Gorman was a Research Scientist at the Environmental
Research Institute of Michigan where he conducted research on
defense-related applications of statistical modeling, detection
and estimation of radar and optical imaging systems. Dr. Gorman's
background in automated image analysis and data mining from the
defense industry provides some of the core Cytoprint technical
capabilities and intellectual property.
